Michael Douglas brought transparent glasses frames back into vogue in last year's Wall Street 2 film.

Now many labels are introducing their own take on the trend with retro shapes made from sparkling clear plastic or tinged with a hint of colour.

The great thing about transparent frames is that they look good on almost everyone - and because they don't dominate the face, they allow the wearer's natural features to shine. Design aficionados warn though that those with pale complexions should probably avoid the transparent frames - or risk looking a little washed out.
