Okia has renewed its commitment to more sustainable production and is proud to be one of the first eyewear production sites in China to be certified by the Global Recycling Standard (GRS) in 2021.
In 2019, the company launched its upcycled plastic bottle collection, Reshape, alongside the hashtag #millionbottleschallenge. Since then, over three million bottles have been recycled into eyewear, preventing the waste from going into landfill or polluting the world’s oceans.
“We are proud to announce this new achievement which represents a step forward in our sustainable commitment in the eyewear industry” said Jacky Lam, Managing Director of Okia Optical.
GRS is an international, voluntary, full product standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions.
