mivision Issue 163 December 2020

Armed with a retrospectoscope, we may all have approached 2020 differently.

It has, after all, been an extraordinary year for eye health. The need to negotiate regulations in flux, manage anxieties, and introduce new protocols to protect patients, staff and suppliers from the dreaded COVID-19 has bent minds and blown out budgets.

2020 has also reminded us of how important it is to develop resilience, flexibility and agility, and to practise generosity and compassion toward others – the acts of support and kindness I’ve witnessed this year have been awe-inspiring.

As we conclude the year, I’d like to thank everyone who has continued to support mivision – our contributors who share their expertise and experience for the benefit of the profession and greater community; our loyal advertisers and enthusiastic readers.

Thank you also to our dedicated team – Todd, Nikki, Simon, Kirsten, Emily and Dione, as well as our print partner Dean Slater at SpecialT – who together ensure mivision continues to be delivered to readers in Australia and New Zealand on time, every month, even as the page numbers continue to grow.

After a rollercoaster 12 months, I’m sure there are very few in this world who aren’t counting down the days until the year end, and looking forward to a well-deserved break.

Stay healthy, stay safe. We wish you all the best for a restful, enjoyable festive season.
