Graham and Bev Sheil, current owners of well-known eyewear supplier, European Eyewear will officially hand the business over to Brett and Leanne Sheil as of 25 September, 2020. As a key part of the sale, the business will change its name to Magnifiers Australia and end its eyewear operations to focus on its quality magnifiers and lighting division. The new business will commence operations from new premises at Unit 3, 4 Dempster Street, Ferntree Gully, Vic. 3156.
Brett and Leanne Sheil are both experienced, knowledgeable and passionate members of the optical industry, having been part of European Eyewear for decades. They said the decision to shift their business focus reflects the evolution of the marketplace and will allow them to make a difference to people requiring high quality vision aids.
We’ve been dedicated to providing outstanding service and equipment in the magnifier and low vision space for decades, and we want to take this to the next level with Magnifiers Australia
“We’ve been dedicated to providing outstanding service and equipment in the magnifier and low vision space for decades, and we want to take this to the next level with Magnifiers Australia,” they said in a statement.
European Eyewear was founded in 1972, and soon became Australia’s biggest supplier of magnifiers, as well as a major supplier of eyewear. Being the exclusive Australian and New Zealand agent for Eschenbach Optik of Germany, they set a benchmark for excellent service and quality optical equipment, which the Sheils say will continue on in Magnifiers Australia.
European Eyewear will continue to operate, in a reduced way, to support parts and warranty requests for Eschenbach eyewear previously sold, until the announcement of a new distributor, which is anticipated in early 2021.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our longstanding and loyal customers for their business over the last 50 years, and look forward to extending those valuable customer relationships by expanding our services offered in the growing magnification and lighting sector,” Brett and Leanne Sheil said.
