Eye care professionals have a duty of care to educate patients about controllable threats to their eye health. Ultraviolet (UV) damage is one of those threats – a lifetime of cumulative irreversible photo damage can become a threat to eye health and even sight. By proactively limiting their lifetime UV light exposure from childhood, patients can reduce UV-induced damage to their eyes.
It stands to reason then, that we must educate patients on ways to reduce the risk of UV damage to their eyes. Moreover, equally important, is our duty to offer lens solutions with the highest level of protection from these irrefutable threats.
