Professional Development Gains Momentum

With the year well underway, optometrists are spoilt for choice when it comes to acquiring professional education, and discovering the latest in eyewear and eye care.

O Vic

Since I last wrote to mivision readers, I’ve been very pleased to have formally partnered with mivision as our major media supporter for O=MEGA19. The coming together of the largest media player in the optometric sector in Australia with the largest clinical conference and trade expo in the Southern Hemisphere, gives us unrivalled capacity to promote our July event to all people connected to this industry. On top of that, striking deals like this means we don’t have to spend as much on advertising, which directly impacts our capacity to provide increased value to Optometry Australia members.

In that spirit, Optometry Victoria and the Optical Distributors and Manufacturers Association (ODMA) have been able to deliver extraordinary earlybird rates for O=MEGA19. Optometry Australia members who register for the conference before 23 April can lock in an unbeatable full conference three day earlybird rate of AU$399. This is a saving of over $300 on the full price of a ticket for SRC 2018 – an amazing member’s only offer that hasn’t been seen since last century!

With up to 48 clinical CPD points in one place for $399, O=MEGA19 is the highest quality and best value conference in Australia in 2019. Over three days you will see cutting edge clinical speakers from Australia and around the world. Alongside this we will showcase over 100 exhibitors, a masterclass series, breakout sessions, and excellent networking opportunities that can be enjoyed while accruing CPD points.

While all of this goes ahead for July, we’re diligently working on the administrative and compliance requirements for our upcoming amalgamation with our colleagues in South Australia. We’re working hard to increase services and drive down costs for members. If anyone has any questions about any of these things, I’m always available – p.haydon@optometry.org.au.

With just under two weeks to go, the Australian Vision Convention 2019 is set to be the best conference of the year. If you haven’t yet registered to attend this year’s convention on the Gold Coast, rest assured, there’s still time and we would love to see you.

With an exceptional clinical program on offer yet again, optional online assessment, the Sea World gala dinner, educational breakfast sessions, and our hands on workshops, how could you miss it? Register at www.optometryqldnt.org.au.
