OShow Turns Spotlight on Eye Care

OShow, Australia’s boutique event for the optical industry, will place the spotlight firmly on eyewear and eye care, with back to back presentations running throughout the weekend, from Saturday 14 to Sunday 15 July.

The sell out show, now in its second year, will feature presentations that range from window dressing to optical coherence tomography, IPL technology, ultra widefield imaging, dispensing and even social media. The presentations will be delivered on the stage and at individual exhibition stands.

Solid Speaker Line-Up

Speakers include David Inderias, co-founder of Tech Print Industries, Grant and Thao Hannaford co-founded the Academy of Advanced Ophthalmic Optics (AAOO), and Vivienne Forbes and who has a background in medicine and advanced manufacturing.  

David Inderias will speak about 3D printed eyewear, a topic of expertise having worked, over several years, on creating a complete end-to-end solution for creating customised eyewear from 3D acquisition of facial scans, fitting in virtual reality using digital assets, and direct manufacturing of eyewear.

Grant and Thao Hannaford co-founded the Academy of Advanced Ophthalmic Optics (AAOO), which delivers ophthalmic optics education beyond the scope of TAFE, other RTOs and undergraduate optometry programmes in Australia. They will speak on the true cost of remakes and host a ‘dispensing grand rounds session.

Vivienne Forbes, founder of Social Ties will provide clever insights into business development using social media. Ms. Forbes is adept in marketing, advertising and business development, having spent over 25 years’ in radio, magazines (digital and print), news media agencies, leading newspapers, outdoor advertising, direct mail, event management and training.

Other speakers at OShow include Jennifer Rainer (Alleve Eye Clinic), David Yebra (Optimed), Rick Good (Good Optical) and Jason Teh (Designs for Vision) who will all speak about different aspects of dry eye management.

Yvette Wadell (Brien Holden Vision Institute) will speak about the myopia epidemic and Renato Antolovich (Zeiss) will speak on the Clarus 500 ultra widefield camera. Riccardo Ferraris (De Gaspare Nidek) will also speak on widefield imaging and Adam Hamilton (Heidelberg) will speak on OCT angiography.
John Larkin and Adrian Vecchio (Optimed) will speak on OCT biometry and Grant Schmid (Device Technologies) will speak on ophthalmic data management.

Neville White (BOC) will speak on the financial aspects of offering IPL in practice and David Yebra (Optimed) will speak about future trends in IPL treatment. Kathy Allen (Dewings) will speak on practice valuations.
Emilie Campagnon (Bolon Eyewear) will speak about the new Bolon collections and supporting campaign and Kerry Van Beuge will present live window dressing demonstrations throughout the weekend.
