China Shows It's a Huge Market
Asia's biggest and most successful optical show, the China International Optics Fair (CIOF 2008) will hold its 21st fair after the Olympics in Beijing from 26 - 28 September.

With seven large halls filled by exhibitors, this year's CIOF has increased its total exhibition space by 5 per cent on last year.

As the CIOF is the first international event after the Olympics in China, organisers say they are not surprised at the interest and growth by international and local brands, manufacturers, principals and agents in the various display sections.

These include the largest companies from around the world in spectacle frames and sunglasses; lenses; contact lenses; visual test equipment and raw materials, accessories and processing machinery.

"It is without doubt that China is one of the great emerging optical markets in recent years," says Chairman of the China Optometric & Optical Association, Madam Xu Yunyuan.

"China's optical market is now shifting from basic to luxury, from vision correction to lifestyle and CIOF is the annual must-go global optical event in China focusing on both technological advancement and fashion trends."

Madam Xu says that CIOF 2008 is ready to welcome more than 780 exhibitors from 20 countries, attracting more than 50,000 trade visitors.
