Ciba Vision has won the ‘Best New Contact Lens of the Year' award for its Dailies AquaComfort Plus lens in France. The award, called ‘Pont d'or', was judged by more than 780 opticians throughout France and presented in March.

"Receiving this award only two and a half months after the launch of the product is recognition of the level of comfort the lens delivers to consumers," said Guillaume Joucla, the Head of Marketing for Ciba Vision France.

A company spokesman said: "The prize acknowledges all Ciba Vision associates worldwide involved in the development of the lens and the innovation behind it." The company stated that "Dailies AquaComfort Plus is the first and only lens with Ciba Vision's unique Triple Action Moisture" and that "Dailies AquaComfort Plus lubricates, moisturises and refreshes the lens for outstanding comfort throughout the day".

The spokesman said the new "patent-pending lens included a cushioning lubricant for initial comfort at the start of the day, a hydrophilic wetting agent that, together with the third comfort agent, provides moisture throughout the day, and an optimised blink-activated moisturising agent that refreshed the lens until the end of the day".

Dailies AquaComfort Plus was launched in Australia and New Zealand in January, adding to an already impressive range of Ciba Vision daily disposable lenses including Focus Dailies All Day Comfort sphere, toric and progressive.
