Optometrists Registration Board of Victoria

The ORBV has been established by an Act of the Parliament to protect the public. In order to protect the public, the ORBV will undertake functions including: • only registering suitably qualified persons to practise optometry in Victoria • regulating the standards of practice of optometry in Victoria • investigating the professional conduct, professional performance or ability to practise of registered optometrists and imposing sanctions where necessary • issuing guidelines about appropriate standards of optometry practice • issuing and publishing guidelines about the minimum terms and conditions of professional indemnity insurance for registered optometrists
